Meeting with IDOT Proves Beneficial

Last week Dick Rice, John Huffman and Steve Woodfin accompanied Mayor Gary Kraft to a meeting with IDOT officials in Carbondale, IL along with HMG Engineers. Scott Rakers of HMG stated the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the scope, schedule, etc for the Access Justification Report that will submitted to the Federal Highway Administration. Also attending were representatives from CBB (traffic studies consultant) from St. Louis who often work with HMG on similar projects. Carrie Nelsen, District 9 Program Development Engineer and her staff provided guidance to HMG regarding the desired content of a preliminary AJR for the Interchange Project. We were invited to attend the IDOT bi-monthly Coordination Meeting on January 27th and present the preliminary AJR at that time. A representative from the FWHA will be in attendance allowing us to involve that agency early in our project. Very good meeting with Ms. Nelsen and her staff members.
